To be eligible for criminal injuries compensation, you must:-

Have been a victim of a crime in the UK within the last 2 years, in some cases this 2 year limit is not applied.

  1. Have injuries that would justify a claim for compensation to a value of at least £1,000.
  2. Reported the matter to the Police without any delay and have fully cooperated with the Police in bringing or attempting to bring the offender to justice.
  3. Not have any previous criminal convictions yourself for crimes of violence or dishonesty.
  4. Ensure that you have reported the incident to the Police without any delay, visited a medical establishment regarding your injuries and have collected as much evidence as you possible can to support your claim such as photographs of the injuries, ames if any witnesses who were present at the time, discharge letter from the hospital and/or any doctors certificates.
